Ever wanted to visit the Texas Hill country and be close enough to sight see in Austin, but far enough to hear the ducks, see the deer and enjoy the peace and quiet? That is exactly what we got at the LCRA Bastrop South Shore Park. Honestly, we did not plan to stay here, but we could not get reservations at our old stand-by across the road, Bastrop State Park, so we gave it a shot and we were glad we did.
Located just Southeast of Bastrop and close enough to Austin to go in for a day trip, this park is a little piece of heaven on earth. The extra large shaded campsites were perfect for our fifth-wheel, the kid’s travel trailer and our fun family adventure. No need to bring a canoe or kayak because you can rent them right there and enjoy an afternoon on the water.
The Park Ranger and everyone we met seemed to really enjoy their jobs and their pride in the park really shows. There is a boat ramp, fishing pier and plenty of room to picnic, play volleyball and just have some fun. And our friends who don’t own RVs, there are cabins they can rent to get a taste of the RV lifestyle. This park and 900 acre lake offer features that appeal to the camper, angler and nature lover, so check it out!
