What are you doing for Memorial day? I have asked that question of many of my friends and this is a holiday that has activities ranging from backyard BBQ, to the first RV trip of the season. As is typical of Memorial Day celebrations, families will be celebrating the beginning of summer with family reunions, camp-outs and other fun activities. In fact, that is something I typically do as well. This year is going to be a little different from me.
RV Nana is staying home this Memorial Day.
That’s right, I’m staying home to celebrate my granddaughters high school graduation with family and friends. It seems like only yesterday when I was cuddling this precious baby girl and now she has grown up to be a beautiful young lady. As we were gathering fun and embarrassing pictures of her to share with family (which I promised not to share here), I was reminded of how many of our memories were associated to our RV life. For as long as she has been alive, she has truly grown up in, and around this wonderful RV lifestyle.
Memorial Day also reminds of the many people who have touched both her life and mine, but who are no longer with us. I have no doubt that they are all smiling down on her as she celebrates this extraordinary moment in her life. I wish they were here to be with us as she takes this next big step in life. They would be so proud.
So, again I ask, what you are doing this Memorial Day? Hopefully you take time to remember those who have touched your life and be grateful for the time and memories you shared together.
