Winter is here and unless you live in a moderate climate, there’s not a whole lot of RVing going on right now. That’s why I love Texas. We have moderate winters which allows myself and my family to travel a few hours and enjoy our time together without having to stay inside the whole time. During our Texas winters, Corpus Christi is one of my favorite destinations. It hovers around 60 degrees during this time of year. Lucky for us RVers, there are a few really great RV parks to take advantage of! Some of them right on the beach.

Corpus Christi, for us Texans, isn’t too far of a drive, wherever you’re coming from. About 7 hours from D/FW, 4 from Austin, 2 from San Antonio, and about 4 hours from Houston. Typically, the area is a spring break destination (South Padre Island, anyone?), but it actually is home to some great year-round attractions and will keep your RV family occupied and entertained the entire trip! Not only are there magnificent beaches for miles, but you can also make a day trip to see the USS Lexington, a World War II-vintage aircraft carrier. This larger-than-life carrier really must be seen to be appreciated. Navigating the inner workings of this massive ship makes you wonder how our men at sea don’t get lost everyday! There’s also the Texas State Aquarium, with their dolphin shows and your chance to feed a stingray! If you really feel like venturing out, about 45 minutes away is the famed King Ranch. Over 825,000 acres (larger than the state of Delaware) of wildlife and some of the best nature tours in the state, maybe even the U.S. During this winter, don’t be afraid to head a little further south and enjoy Corpus Christi.
