RV Resorts Are Perfect For Family Reunions

Last weekend, my daughter Jennifer and I were at Leisure Resort in Fentress, Texas for their annual BBQ Cookoff event.  This campground is one of my favorite RV parks and has become a big part of our family’s RV lifestyle story.  IMG_9688With campsites, cabins, and tree houses overlooking the beautiful San Marcos River.  With their resort boasting a pool, pavilion and large activity building;  this is a perfect place for a family reunion.  We met so many people last weekend who have made RV resorts their preferred accommodations for annual family reunions.    One of the families from the Austin area actually rented several RV sites and cabins for the weekend, but they also had 3 or 4 families who prefer the hotel lifestyle, so they had part of their group at a local Luling hotel.  That way everyone got the best of both worlds.  I know it’s hard to believe, but some people simply do not like “roughing it” in an RV, tent or cabin.  They apparently have not seen the Used RVs we have for sale at PPL.  I have said many times that fifth wheels are much nicer than my first apartment when I got out of school. There were family activities going on all around us.  Each family at the reunion sponsored a nightly meal and on the last night, they all pulled together with a pot luck dinner: kids roasting marshmallows, dads cooking over the open fire and everyone having great family fun.   I talked to a cousin who was responsible for a fun kid’s art project and another was in charge of games: the list went on and on just like their smiles.

The most important thing to remember when planning your family reunion is to plan in advance.  Now is the time to plan for 2018 or 2019.  The second thing that I have learned the hard way is to get everyone involved and don’t try to do it all yourself.  Reunions are supposed to be fun, family gatherings.  The last thing you want is a rigid schedule of events that doesn’t allow for the simple down time where you can sit around a fire or on the banks of the river and share memories and life adventures.    Have fun!!!FullSizeRender
