The holidays are special. There’s nothing like getting together with your loved ones and spending time together. Gathering for board games on Christmas Eve, or watching the kids open presents on Christmas morning are memories that you should cherish and strive to re-create at every chance you get. There are families out there, however, who don’t have the opportunity to celebrate as a whole family due to a member being active military overseas. Even more tragic are family and friends who’ve lost their lives in service of their Country. For those, who do not have family, or friends in the military, you don’t have to use your imagination hard to understand that the holidays are especially difficult. We also have to remember that it’s equally as difficult for our sons and daughters who serve to be away their families as well.
This holiday season, I’d like to ask you to consider making a donation to a charity that benefits Military families of all kinds. Your donation will go towards helping provide some type of normalcy this holiday season for families who sacrifice themselves, so your family will not have to. I’ve put together a few of my favorites Military Family Charities for your convenience. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated, not just by me and PPL Motorhomes, but also by those families who have already sacrificed so much.
Operation 300
Operation 300 is a non-profit organization created to provide a week-long camp for children with fathers who were killed as a result of service to our country. This camp promotes the character of their fathers through activities, such as, fishing and hunting, while instilling a sense of pride, courage and honor.
Wounded Warrior Project
One of the largest veteran support organizations in the U.S. The Wounded Warrior Project aims to help veterans who were injured or disabled, in service to our country. They do a number of different services to help these vets find jobs, help them become independent, and much more.
Operation Gratitude
Operation Gratitude annually sends 100,000+ care packages filled with snacks, entertainment items and personal letters of appreciation addressed to individually named U.S. Service Members deployed in hostile regions, to their children left behind and to Veterans, First Responders, Wounded Warriors and their Care Givers.
Wounded Warriors Family Support
Wounded Warriors Family Support is an independent nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide support to the families of those who have been wounded, injured or killed during combat operations.
